Welcome to the Kentucky Center for School Safety Website

Every morning as the big yellow bus rounds the corner, parents send their children off to school with the expectation that they will remain safe.  Across this great Commonwealth, we as educators never need to lose sight of that great responsibility.

Our schools focus on academic achievement, competing well in athletics and other important measurements of success, but none of that matters unless our students remain safe in a healthy environment that is conducive to learning.

The Kentucky Center for School Safety staff is committed to providing training, resources, information and research. In today's society, school safety is a daily issue that ranges from classroom management to school shootings. This website is available for planning, training or emergency assistance.

New books, pencils, crayons and shiny clean school buildings remind us that “Opening Day” is around the corner.  Plans for the "Best School Year Ever" are underway. This includes safety planning and below is a checklist we hope you will find helpful.

Back to School Safety Checklist

* This is a brief checklist of items to consider when "Preparing for Back to School."  It is not exhaustive.  Hopefully we at Kentucky Center for School Safety have heightened your awareness of items to address as Opening Day approaches, and if we can be of any assistance to you during the 2008-2009 school year, please do not hesitate to call on us.
