Safe Schools, Successful Students 13th Annual Conference

Whether it’s cyberbullying, drugs, shootings, drinking, or a natural disaster, school safety affects an entire community. While educators and school boards across the nation continue to create tools to improve school safety, it's imperative for community agencies to understand and recognize the role they play in helping schools in this area.
Featuring:
Monday Opening Session October 1,  LouAnn Johnson  
Known for her story that inspired the box office hit Dangerous Minds, she will present her approach to addressing the needs of those students others believe are "hard to teach." Her opening session is entitled Teaching Outside the Box, she will share the strategies and philosophy that have enabled her to successfully motivate students from many different backgrounds, including elementary non-readers, at-risk teens, college undergraduates, ESL students and developmental-level adult learners.
Monday Luncheon Pianist Harry Pickens 
This internationally renowned jazz musician with a background as a K-12 music teacher will inspire you with his unusual and integrat3ed approach to life and music that provides practical applications to enhance learning, creativity, and personal effectiveness.
Tuesday Opening Session  October 2, Dr. Marissa Randazo
This national expert and co-author of the landmark national study of school shootings conducted by the U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Secret Service will review key findings on American school shootings an implications for prevention.
