Aug 25, 2017 - Planning to Recover from Emergencies at Districts and Schools

On Friday, August 25, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET, the REMS TA Center, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education’s (ED) Office of Safe and Healthy Students (OSHS), will host a Webinar on how K-12 schools and districts can better plan to recover from emergency events and be ready for all hazards and threats that may impact their school community. Presenters will describe key considerations for recovery; present the process for including recovery activities in planning efforts; and share lessons learned from the 2014 Washington Oso landslide and Marysville-Pilchuck High School active shooter situation, and the Moore, Oklahoma tornado in 2013. During the Webinar, presenters will focus on the four recovery components of academics; physical and structural; business functions; and social, emotional, and behavioral recovery. This event will also feature a dedicated 15-minute Q&A session during which presenters will field questions from participants.
